Tommy Hughes

Profile

A prominent and longtime professional with decades of experience in aviation and aerospace, Tommy Hughes was appointed Chief Executive Officer for VAS Aero Services in 2015. As CEO he leads the executive group responsible for the company’s strategic direction, revenue generation and overall operations. In 2022, he spearheaded the acquisition of VAS by Satair USA, an Airbus subsidiary and key solutions provider in global aviation aftermarket parts and services, bringing VAS into the Airbus family of companies. Tommy continues as CEO of the independent VAS subsidiary while also serving as a member of the Satair senior executive team.
In a career spanning more than 25 years, Tommy has held a variety of senior technical, marketing and sales positions in the aviation industry, gaining technical expertise, global marketing and sales insight, and industry perspective, including deep experience in engine MRO services and sales.
Tommy joined VAS in 2007. As Chief Commercial Officer, he led the company’s marketing and sales efforts through a period of unprecedented growth, expanding the VAS global logistics network to include marketing and sales offices in the United Kingdom, serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Singapore, supporting the Asia-Pacific region. As CEO Tommy commands all business operations and steers the company’s strategic vision and overall direction. Additionally, he directly oversees worldwide sales and marketing activities for the global aviation parts and services company.
Prior to joining VAS, Tommy worked with Delta Airlines’ Tech Ops, where he led engine maintenance and test cell operations for Delta and third-party customers. His decades-long aviation career includes executive management positions in production and engine overhaul services, parts manufacturing, business operations and, in particular, international sales and marketing.
